“Mo Money Mo Problems”

Written By: Alli Masoero, CFP® – Zenith Lead Financial Planner

Not Rich, Yet: A blog talking about finance in a way you’ll actually understand.

We can thank the wonderful Notorious B.I.G. for that legendary song. But guys… he’s right. The more money you make, the more problems you have.

When I say problems, I mean the financial obstacles and tax burdens that come with wealth accumulation. All of a sudden, you are no longer living month to month. You find yourself flush with cash and guilt starts to sink in. You don’t know what to do with it… so you ignore it.

The purpose of this blog is to encourage young professionals to work with a financial planner. People often think they are too young or don’t have enough money to work with us. I am here to prove that’s not the case! And here is how:

  1. Should you expect Social Security when you retire?
  2. Do you know how to save the most money in a tax efficient manner?
  3. Will you need to help support your parents when you are older?
  4. Have you taken advantage of all of your company benefits?
  5. Did you know there are still ways to save on your student loans?
  6. Are you simply saving enough to meet your retirement goals?
  7. Do you have the proper estate documents in place?
  8. What about insurance?
  9. Are you getting married? Do you know what to do with your finances?
  10. Do you have retirement accounts at an old employer?

The most common question I hear from people is “How do I get rich?”, and I wish the answer was easier. I work with plenty of wealthy clients in my field, and the common trend is their work ethic. They save, cut expenses, and are prudent with their money. They admit when they are not able to manage their money alone anymore.

These questions were used to help illustrate what you may not be thinking of. I’m not trying to scare you, I’m trying to tell you it’s okay. It is overwhelming and hard to know if you are doing things right.

Please never be embarrassed if you don’t know certain things about money or if you don’t know anything at all. I encourage you to be curious, ask questions, and reflect. We are never here to judge you. We are here to help and educate you.

Zenith is reimagining the way things are done.  Feeling confident in your finances is no longer a privilege exclusive to the rich.

See you soon!
